Ronnie's Rants |
(cont...) I had to wonder about
his veracity since all the things he was criticizing happened
under the leadership of the Democrat Party and much of it while
HE was in office. Lets look at "Ronnie's Rants" and see just
what we find.
Bad Highways - the Democrat Leadership has made an annual
event of raiding the misnomer State Highway "Trust Fund". In
fact the first "raiding" of money intended for our roads
occurred in back in 2001, when Representative Smith was in
office. He has nobody to blame for the pirating, but himself and
his Democrat friends.
State Government Spending - If you look back at the years
of Ronnie's tenure in office you'll see a Democrat spending
spree in Raleigh that will scare you to death. North Carolina's
economy was sky rocketing, but instead of setting aside some of
the increased tax revenues for the eventual return to earth,
Ronnie and his free spending liberal Raleigh friends seized the
opportunity to expand further our already bloated NC Government
Programs. His complaining reminds me of the folks who blow their
lottery winnings and then whine in public about their plight.
School Construction - Ronnie Smith is complaining about
our state school construction? Why, we were told that the NC
Lottery was the fix for that! Well, the lottery has not done the
job and we all know who is responsible for the Lottery and the
school mess, the Liberal Democrat Leadership in Raleigh.
The "Water Crisis" - We are in the midst of the worst
drought in North Carolina history in a large portion of the
state. Thankfully, along the coast we have not been hit as hard
as inland counties. Bad as it is the water use restrictions have
been mainly about watering lawns and washing cars. Now, if that
is about as bad as it gets, why should we do as Ronnie Smith
suggests and spend up to $30 BILLION on water-storage
facilities? That's the equivalent of a health situation where
you break a leg and then hire a live-in Orthopedic Surgeon for a
million or two dollars a year. Sounds like a drastic
overreaction to a once in a lifetime event.
So, Mr. Smith before you as a former State Representative start
telling us the questions to ask our current candidates, why
don't you pick up the phone and call those really responsible.
You know, your liberal Democrat friends in the Statehouse in
Raleigh, and or Federal / State prisons? Ask them about this
mess. I'm not sure if Jim Black (Remember him, the guy who
helped to fund many of your campaigns?) has phone privileges,
but he's sure got plenty of time to talk.
